This is a four-part series that I produced years ago for Turner Broadcasting. Some of the strangest people for sure. And I was never sure about whether or not their stories were true. But they were truthful about what they experienced. But what did they experience? This question plagued all of us on the crew.

The speaker is Harris Wofford. He worked for President Kennedy who was involved with the civil rights struggle. He was a Peace Corps volunteer and an author who wrote the book Of Kennedy and Kings. He was a front-line witness to those times. Those who did not live through this may not find this of interest although I hope those interested in history will. Thank you.

She was a great storyteller who was on NPR for almost 20 years. She was interviewed for my series on the 1960s. If you find this of interest, please subscribe to my channel. Thank you.

I interviewed this woman in 1989 about her life in the 1950s. She is talking about Levittown Long Island, the classic suburb of that time. The interview was conducted for my TV series, Making Sense of the Sixties, and the style I created was to interview people who I called “extraordinary ordinary." You can see other clips from the outtakes on my YouTube channel. Thank you for watching.

This is a clip from one of the interviews for my 1991 TV series, Making Sense of the Sixties. In 1990, I asked each person in the series when the sixties had ended for them. This is Jonathan Granoff, a protester at that time who was politically “in the middle.” Not a radical. To see more clips from the series intakes and outtakes, just search 1960s on my YouTube channel. #1960s #60s #60sprotests

I loved interviewing him in 1989. He coined the phrase counterculture and had unique insights into the baby boomers without being one himself. If you found this of interest, please subscribe as I will present and future days many more comments from him. Thank you.

The thumbnail is of me in 1964 making my first film on a weekend on Riverhead, Long Island New York, 20 miles from my home. I had just purchased a 16mm Bolex windup camera. A friend boldly sent it President Johnson by snail mail. His people saw it and showed it to Congress. Partially as a result of the reaction, a law got past to improve the treatment of migrant workers. I was horrified by what I saw. People living in houses made for ducks. The very sweet people I interviewed were kind and giving. None of them had ever seen a pro camera or a pro tape recorder. But they had the courage to speak out even though the farm owner threatened to kick them out.
