3-day campaign in Delhi against malaria, dengue. The Union Health Ministry will launch a campaign in Delhi to sensitise and mobilise people on measures for prevention and control of vector borne diseases like malaria, dengue and chikungunya. The three-day campaign, which will start on Wednesday, is aimed at making the community a partner to check vector and mosquito breeding across the national capital, said Harsh Vardhan, Union Health Minister.

9 killed in group clash over property dispute in Sonbhadra's Ghorawal. According to cops, village head Yagyadutt Bhurtiya was one of the parties in the incident. A 90-bigha land was the bone of contention between the two tribes. The clash between members of Bhurtiya and Gond tribes of Ubha village also left 24 people injured. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences to the family of the deceased. The CM directed the district magistrate to provide immediate medical help to the injured. He also directed the DGP to personally monitor the case and ensure effective action.

The eclipse will be visible throughout the night from all parts of the country. The eclipse will begin around 1.31 am on Wednesday (17 July 2019). The greatest partial eclipse when the Moon will look the darkest will be around 3 am. The Moon will remain partially eclipsed till 4:29 am on Wednesday. India will witness the next lunar eclipse on May 26, 2021, when it will be a total one. The lunar eclipses are completely safe to view with the naked eye. One does not need a telescope to watch the lunar eclipse although a good pair of binoculars will enhance the experience.

In Ludhiana, the Mayor announced Rs 5,000 reward for catching 'manhole lids' thieves. Infact the Ludhiana civic officials are troubled with sewerage manhole lid thieves who are active in ward number 67 these days. The Mayor Balkar Sandhu has announced Rs 5,000 cash award for giving information about these thieves. The Mayor shared that in the areas around Kochar Market in ward 67 the sewerage manhole covers are being stolen by some people. A CCTV footage has also surfaced in which incident of stealing the sewerage manhole covers has been recorded.

In Gurugram, the widening of Badshapur drain, the city’s arterial stormwater channel, will not end the problem of waterlogging during monsoon but only push it from Hero Honda Chowk further downstream. This inference can be drawn from GMDA’s comprehensive drainage plan that suggests capturing a substantial portion of runoff from the Aravali hills through rejuvenation of waterbodies and bundhs as a permanent solution to save the city from the problem of waterlogging. The comprehensive drainage plan — which forms the basis of a study commissioned by GMDA, NHAI and HSVP last year — also includes the upgrade of Badshapur drain near Vatika Chowk and construction of new drains along Golf Course Road.
